About the Unit
The Astoria FIU is the country's central authority for receiving, analysing and disseminating reports linked to money laundering, terrorist financing and related predicate offences.
Our mandate
Established under the Anti-Money Laundering Act, the unit operates independently of law enforcement and the entities it supervises. It receives suspicious activity reports from banks, payment institutions, lawyers, accountants and other obliged entities, analyses them for financial and operational context, and refers substantiated cases to prosecutors.
The unit also issues sector guidance, delivers training on reporting obligations, and represents Astoria within the Egmont Group's international network of financial intelligence units.
How we're organised
